Surfing California

On our recent trip to Southern California we surfed on over to Ventura Beach for an afternoon.  We actually weren't in Southern California to visit the beach (I know, can you imagine?).   The afternoon provided us with a bunch of beach photos, an ocean-worn rock and sandy shoes to fill up our suitcases. My rock lives in my Colorado apartment for the moment to keep the memories alive!

If you like palm trees, soft sand, surfers and rows of beach houses which line the seashore, then you'll enjoy Southern California beaches.  Even though it was December and overcast, it wasn't too cold at all.

  1. Lovely I lived there for many years before moving to Santa Barbara. When I lived there none of the houses were on the surrounding hills and it was sleepy quiet little beach town. Now its gang infested and has a terrible crime problem. However it has some of the most lovely beaches in Northern California. Next time your there go to the Harbor and have a fish dinner, it fresh every day and the view is amazing. Lobster trap is great for brunch in the nearby Oxnard Harbor.

  2. Thanks for spotlighting Ventura's secret beach gem, Pierpont! I live in Pierpont, Ventura. I live directly behind the bright orange terracotta house in photo 8 (Bath Lane). I love this community, love our beaches, walk the sand, comb the shells, and admire the sandpipers daily. It was such a surprise to see Ventura in your blog! Thanks! It is a vibrant and healthy community. I know my neighbors, love my community, and know every dog on the beach. We have great food (Seaward Fish & Chips, Dukes Griddle & Grill), plus have fabulous Sushi and Frozen Yogurt. Come down and experience a local small town beach community, complete with sand dunes, shore birds, whales, dolphins, surf, friendly neighbors, and lots of character!
