Amazing Tropical Atrium and Aquarium

My daughter, Elizabeth and I are back from our Las Vegas vacation and I'm happy to report that we had a very relaxing, fun and cherished time together.  Though Vegas is in the midst of the Mojave Desert there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy a bit of the "beach" here and there.  I hope you don't mind if I share some of our favorite spots with you - let's start with our visit to the Mirage Hotel today.

From the moment you stroll through the front doors, you'll enjoy the soft essence of coconut throughout the air.  I immediately thought, "This is my kind of place." Your eyes will quickly gaze upon the luxurious tropical Atrium which you've been transported inside of.  Amazing beauty is all around including bronze mermaid sculptures, bromeliads, orchids and waterfalls - what an amazing paradise for those that love the tropics!

One of many sculptures which added to the tropical feel of the place.

The  bromeliads were so perfect that they almost looked unreal!

As you can see, I was one happy camper -- I could of hung out in the atrium all day.

These purple orchids were gorgeous.  Wishing I had traveled with my good camera for this shot!

Little waterfalls and lush tropical foliage was all-around.

Once you've enjoyed the lush tropical garden, head over to the front desk (whether you are staying in the hotel or not) and check out the Saltwater Aquarium which holds an astonishing 20,000 gallons of water.  According to the hotel, the indoor coral reef is home to nearly 450 fish from 80 different species.

Pretty amazing aquarium, isn't it!?!?  Tomorrow we'll be sharing our outdoor adventure at the Mirage; specifically Siegfried and Roy's Dolphin Habitat!
