Okay, well I'm not really sitting on the dock, but I did recently visit the Port of Nahcotta on the Willapa Bay. Nahcotta is on the eastern coast of the Long Beach Peninsula where we live. Oysters have attracted people to Willapa Bay for centuries since the bay is shallow. There are tens of thousands of acres of oyster beds.
Since we had a few days of sunshine recently, we hit the bay with our camera in tow. As you drive towards the Port, you'll see huge piles of empty oyster shells along the sides of the road. Piles of nets, rope and floats were ready for us to photograph. We also arrived just in time to see an oyster boat going out to work.
If you visit the Long Beach area, make sure you stop by Bailey's Bakery & Cafe. The homemade bread, sandwiches and scones are all fabulous!
Have a beautiful weekend!!
