Honeysuckle Pink is Color of 2011!

Honeysuckle delivers a tropical punch to a color-starved home...

Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year 2011. The color is bright without being bold; reflecting a brighter outlook on the future.

Pantone is the color planner for all kinds of graphic, architectural and fashion designers and they have selected this Hot Pink hue, named Honeysuckle, as their color of the year.

Pantone is fabulous at its job, traveling all over the world to find new colors, subtleties, and textures that can change tones just enough to give things a whole new feeling.

“Pink can say a lot. I like to pair hot pink with cinnamon brown; it becomes seductive. Bright pink mixed with oranges and purples is always a fun match.” —Eve Robinson, Designer

Last year's Pantone color of  Turquoise was selected because of its calming effect. "In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

“Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Eiseman continues, “The intensity of this festive reddish pink allures and engages. In fact, this color, not the sweet fragrance of the flower blossoms for which it was named, is what attracts hummingbirds to nectar. Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer.”

How to use Honeysuckle in Home Interiors - Honeysuckle is upbeat and dynamic when used on large areas like the entry area of a house or an apartment. By using on dining room walls it offers an appetite and conversation stimulant to the area.  Adding Honeysuckle place mats, towels, candles and glasses are an easy way to create a bit of fun in the kitchen.

If Honeysuckle is a bit too bold to use as paint on your old kitchen cabinets then how about painting your knobs and pulls in this addictive hue.  Add a lively flair to interior spaces with Honeysuckle patterned pillows, bedspreads, small appliances and tabletop accessories.

  18. This color is a little bit to bold for me. I think for a few accent pieces it would be okay though.
