Celebrate the Holidays with Sarah Richardson

"Sarah is not your average TV designer. Her keen understanding of the fundamentals of design compliment razor-sharp instincts in all matters of taste and style"

To keep the demands of a hectic TV life in balance Sarah spends weekends living off the grid at the solar-powered cottage she shares with her husband and daughters.

Today we share some of her beautiful Christmas decorating schemes with you.

Designer, Sarah Richardson, of HGTV fame isn't afraid to use an unconventional holiday scheme. She trims this Christmas Tree with sparkling glass ornaments with hints of green and turquoise.

Inspiring ideas from Sarah's Holiday Party

Sarah's stylish and casual country retreat features a 12-foot tree filled with old and new ornaments. By locating her tree in between the dining and living room it allows for a full 360 degree view.   Hues of red, orange and cream are perfect for this country home and provides a lovely and cozy feel.

A boxwood garland is a lighter take on a pine or spruce garland, but equally festive. Yellow and gold bird ornaments reference the painted stair runner and add a fun touch. If properly dried and stored, boxwood can last for several seasons before needing replacement.

Stacked firewood and giant pine boughs create a very festive winter scene. The boughs are decorated with  silver balls and white lights to create a welcoming Holiday attraction.

  4. Thanks for featuring Sarah. I just watched her holiday special and was laughing about how she told her assistant to spread out the colored ornaments so the color is spaced correctly around the tree and then her daughter came along and put everything in one spot! The same thing kept happening at our house so after the kids went to bed my husband and I stayed up rearranging the ornaments. Otherwise we would have had one big cluster at the bottom.
Anyway, thanks for the great post and have a happy holiday!
